To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo (Review)

Summary:

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most—a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever. The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby—it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good—But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

Julia's Review:

“His face makes no difference.” I drop her hand. “It’s his heart I’m after.” “So many hearts.” Her voice is angelic. “You’ll soon run out of room to bury them all.” I lick my lips. “Maybe,” I say. “But a princess must have her prince.”

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo is a dark, seductive, fantasy read. A twisted tale based on the Little Mermaid. Our heroine Lira is not quite what she seems... she may look like a majestic creature but in reality she is a cold killer. Seducing men that fall right into her trap.

Prince Elian's duty is to kill each of these diabolical creatures. No mercy shall be granted. Until he is saved by Lira. In doing so Lira is turned into a human.

The romance in this story was what gave this book a five star rating from me. These two are enemies, hunting each-other but everything changes. Even though that this is a YA novel, it does have some steamy scenes.

This book is a fast paced, dark YA novel that blew my mind.

Alexandra Christo is a new author to me, that I will definitely read more from.
